Community Hero: Robert Keith, Regional Admin

Robert has been one of our longest and most reliable admins. His region of Akron Canton, Ohio, has grown steadily over the years to over 630 users and 22 court locations. We asked Robert a few questions about his experiences.
How long have you been playing pickleball and where did you learn to play?
I’ve been playing for seven years in the Akron Canton Ohio area.
When did you first join PlayTime Scheduler as a regional admin?
Northeast Ohio Pickleball Players (NEOPP) began in 2006 drawing chalk lines on a tennis court. I began as admin in 2018. When COVID hit, we needed a way to limit the number of indoor participants, and PlayTime Scheduler was the answer. We’ve continued to use it, and it’s an invaluable tool since it keeps us organized as our numbers continue to grow. We now have 2000+ followers on our NEOPP Facebook page.
How would you describe your local pickleball community?
Our area has grown from two places to play, to more than fifty in just six years. For us, pickleball is all about community. We just raised $5000+ for breast cancer through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
What advice would you give to a new region considering setting up a PlayTime Scheduler?
New subscribers should know that when you have large numbers and limited space, that you can increase or decrease the guest feature to regulate numbers, and increase the waitlist. The waitlist only works effectively when players know that they will be "blocked" if they don’t show up and have not canceled.
