Community Hero: Ann Reed, Regional Admin
We'd like to congratulate the Delaware Beaches region for recently surpassing 1,000 users! Ann Reed was the first to register this region two years ago, and has been running it ever since. Thanks to Ann, residents and visitors can now easily find games whenever they are in the area!
How long have you been playing pickleball and where did you learn to play?
I was introduced to the game around 2011. A local woman, Georgia Billger, had brought the game to town and was coordinating beginner and advanced play on our municipal courts, in Lewes, Delaware.
When did you first join PlayTime Scheduler as a regional admin?
Just over two years ago, Lewes Town Council decided that we could no longer have organized group play on the town courts. I was looking at various tools and someone recommended Playtime Scheduler. In March of 2020, I set up the Delaware Beaches region, added known court locations, and started spreading the word.
What do you think is the most rewarding part of being a regional admin?
Seeing our numbers of users, locations and sessions grow makes me smile.
What’s the biggest challenge?
I can’t say that I’ve had any real challenges. Being the administrator hasn’t involved much more than reviewing suggested locations, and either adding them or letting the requester know that the courts are out of our region.
What advice would you give to a new region considering setting up PlayTime Scheduler?
Give Playtime Scheduler a try. It’s a great tool that allows players to meet up and play, and to spread that play across more of the available venues in the area. It also helps visitors and new residents find games… and new pickleball friends.
