Diane is one of our longest running admins, having registered the Space Coast / Brevard County, Florida region back in 2019. She's been a huge help over the years with both managing court listings and assisting with player's questions. The region now boasts over 1,400 users and 28 venues. We asked Diane a few questions about her experiences.

How long have you been playing pickleball and where did you learn to play?

I played tennis at 5, then found racquetball at 21, then nothing, was visiting my mom and step-dad in WI and played this silly game called pickleball about 25 years ago. I forgot about it, and then heard about it locally and I thought.. "It's a real thing?" I was at the rec center the next week playing and have not looked back in the 8 years I have played.

When did you first join PlayTime Scheduler as a regional admin?
I had heard about it from people from another area. I took their card, and did nothing, then someone else I knew mentioned it, so decided to give it a try. Our area uses it quite a bit!

How would you describe your local pickleball community?
Our local community is very diverse and getting younger all the time. I started teaching beginners (IPTPA certified) about a year ago and have taught over 205 people now!

What advice would you give to a new region considering setting up a PlayTime Scheduler?
Just get the word out and decide how you want to use it. We have rec centers with limited time, so they are packed and we do not use it for those places. We use it for all the outdoor courts in the county, to let people know when others will be playing. I have taught all my beginners to use it and to help them find other beginners to play with... they love it!
