A special message from our founder...

In the introduction to Pickleball For Dummies, I wrote about first learning to play at my local community center. As a painfully shy introvert, the social side of pickleball felt even more daunting than landing a perfect third. But I wanted to play this game that made me feel like a kid again, and the people I met were interesting and fun. Chit-chatting between games with increasingly familiar faces, I slowly grew more comfortable. To my surprise, socializing became more of the point rather than something I dreaded.

Ten years later, my social circle is almost entirely made up of pickleball friends. I’ve had so much fun playing this game while adding years to my life. But it’s the community I value most. I have a feeling many of you feel the same.

I’m proud to have created an online platform whose purpose is to get you offline. Social media companies talk a lot about "connection," when in reality they seem to pull us apart. That’s why I’m dedicated to keeping PlayTime Scheduler a positive online space: no bots, doomscrolling, scammers, bullying, or pointless anonymous arguments. Just local folks who want to enrich their lives through play, and understand that we must rely on each other to make it work. (You know the deal—if you sign up, you gotta show up! Or the pickleball gods will curse you with the yips.)

Pickleball requires communication and planning. It also requires you to actually put on shoes and leave the house. At the courts, you’re expected to display sportsmanship and integrity. In return, you get something we could all use more of right now: real-life human connection.
